Every February across the country, chocolate baskets, flowers, and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine. But who is this mysterious saint and why do we celebrate this holiday?
According to one touching legend dated from the third century of Rome, it contends that Valentine was actually a priest who continually defied a Rome King called Emperor Claudis II to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. The Rome king wanted more single men to be better soldiers and sentenced Valentine to death for reducing his intended crop of able soldiers.
Whatever it takes, Valentine is no doubt a heroic figure in the past who was remembered by many for his affectionate love to his lover.
Knowing the meaning and history behind this special day, it is not doubt that many people will want to show more of their affections to their loves ones, be it lovers, friends, kids or parents.
For some other naughty sense of ideas, you can think of sexy apparels as valentine gifts for your lover so as to increase his or her mood in this special day.

With February fast approaching, there’s one thing on every guy’s mind: “Oh my God, what do I get my girlfriend/wife/date?” There’s going to be a pretty mad rush to the shops to get a nice present for the day. It’s a day when every guy will tiptoe on eggshells just to find the perfect gift to show their affection and make that special lady feel special.
There’s no need to panic. The good thing is, for men, the basics of what makes a great Valentines gift are already well-defined. There are three staples: flowers, chocolate and jewelry.
Flowers, of course, refer to the good, old bouquet of roses - in red, of course. They can either show a very deep and intimate connection, or that initial allure between two people. Be careful though, as even the mere number of roses you give has a meaning. While three roses mean “I love you”, a single rose or a bouquet have a safer, more general meaning.

Guys, don’t think that you’re the only ones who have a tough time when Valentine’s Day comes around. If anything, girls got the short straw! Think about it. Guys just go out and visit the nearest flower, jewelry, or chocolate store, while women have no idea what to get their man. But it’s not such a bad thing, come to think of it. At least it’s an excuse to shop!
This Valentine’s Day, here are some gift ideas for your man:
Chocolate-y goodness. Guys love the sweet stuff too! There are even specialty chocolate stores that have “special blends” for your guy. Think about it - you can give nature’s aphrodisiac to your man.
Timepieces. Guys can’t get enough of watches, especially when it makes them feel like James Bond. These make great gifts because he can use them anytime, anywhere. Why not get him a watch for dressy occasions? Or, you can get him something practical that he can use every day.

If you are thinking about flower delivery to Fresno this Valentines Day, you have quite a few options from which to choose when it comes to selection.
Floral designers have come up with interesting new arrangements for 2009. They are creative, stylish and different from the usual arrangements we’ve been seeing for ages. Bouquets and formal display are still sought-after, but if you wish to take advantage of this year’s new designs, don’t hesitate. With all that you’ll see online, you will no doubt have fun choosing one for a flower delivery to Fresno for your loved one.
One fashionable flower lay-out for a flower delivery to Fresno is flowers arranged in a box. However, instead of the usual flowers we see, these are flower buds only. They are small and cute but totally hip and cool, especially if there is a collection of different colors. It reminds you of a box of chocolates. Indeed a great gift this Valentine’s Day.
You will also find a different style of arrangement online. This is with candles this time. The flowers are arranged in a vase or other container type and goes with a candle stand. There are also various candle shapes and colors to complement your flowers. It is a romantic way to express your love for sending a flower delivery to Fresno.

Valentines Day is about taking the time to recognize the special person in your life, and the good news is that this recognition does not have to break the bank. While many people go all out, so to speak for this ocassion, this doesn’t mean that you can’t have a memorable holiday and give a memorable gift as well, while on a budget.
What else can thirty dollars buy you? What about a personalized V-day basket? Purchase a cheap wicker basket or laundry hamper at a discount store and fill it with some unique items that you know your special someone will love. What can you put in the basket? Why not try a movie basket, containing one or two favorite DVDs and popcorn or candy. You can also create a date-in-a basket, with an inexpensive bottle of wine, a blanket, and a picnic lunch for a romantic date under the stars. And of course, there’s always the romantic gift basket idea. Try filling it with lotions, massage oils, bath beads, and other related items.

It’s that special time of year again. If you are into a loving relationship that you want to keep healthy you probably could use some help with Valentine’s day gifts ideas. On the other hand if you want to end a relationship an easy way to do it is to just forget about a Valentines Day gift.
But, you may wonder, how did the world get so hooked on this old tradition? Why has Valentines Day become so important in maintaining relationships?
Saint Valentine’s Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition. Who was Saint Valentine and how did he become associated with this ancient rite of giving gifts to loved ones? The exact origin of Valentines Day is not clear. We do know that the Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred.
One legend has it that Valentine was a priest who served in Rome during the third century. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men performed as soldiers better than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men, his source of soldiers. Valentine, realizing that the decree was unjust, defied Claudius and continued to perform secret marriages for lovers. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be imprisoned and then soon put him to death.
